The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu the winner the Guber rerun elections in the south east state of Abia.
The election of April 11, had earlier been declared inconclusive arising from the fact that Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of the PDP only led his Immediate runner up Mr. Alex Otti of the APC with 248,459 as against 165406 votes whereas the total no. of votes in the areas where elections were cancelled was larger than the PDP winning margin.
However with the rerun elections of the the 25th of April, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of the PDP polled 16254 votes as against the 15476 scored by Mr. Alex Otti of the APC and a cummulative of these results made Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of the PDP the winner of the Abia State Governorship election as announced by the state's returning officer, Prof. Ben Ozumba.
