Battles of the mind: A beautiful article exposing our daily challenges to remain focused.

In this article, I have tried from personal experiences to share the daily struggles the average young man has to deal with everyday, as he strives to stay aright to his dreams, living by the good morals he had got as upbringing while living the realities of adolescence, youthfulness and the demands of the flesh. Read full text of the article below.
Battles of the mind.
Jumping into delinquent behaviors might seem adventurous but giving such habits up is definitely not a job for the fickle minded.

It is very easy to throw away very wonderful virtues than to pick such life-saving habits back. A young man, from the best of the Christian homes, with access to the kind of formation meant only for supposed leaders of tomorrow and a set of parents who consistently would want to discharge their parental obligation to their wards, would most likely think himself unfortunately caged, didn’t enjoy the mischievous behaviors his mates had access to and in most circumstances, may label their parents dictatorial. Mind you, the use of the phrase, “ In most circumstances”, was deliberate because, there is still a fraction of young people , though likely very few in numbers, who still keep faith and hold very dear, these invaluable virtues which are only a privilege in today’s society. Yes! A privilege cos even the so called parents of this generation themselves lack the good moral foundations, talk more the one they need to impart into others.
You never used to drink or womanize, however, someday, these your group of friends tout you or even dub you a woman who cannot get man enough, either to “enjoy” or tolerate alcohol or approach that young lady, win her over and lay her. And for you, who is full of self-confidence and understands that you keep away from vices not because you can’t get involved but because you had that privilege of proper guidance, may want to prove your mates wrong and guzzle down one, two, three glasses of beer, you also go ahead to talk to that young girl and one thing leading to other, you’ve laid her and be sure to prove your mates wrong while asserting your manliness.
However, a battle bigger than just proving a point to your friends has just begun. You can hardly sleep at night or even have quiet times that are not filled with regrets. The experiences derived from the fling you just had might have been fun going by some standards, however, as this conflicts with the tenneths of good morals, your conscience keeps pricking you. At some point, you would have to find the strength to go on your knees, cry and ask God for forgiveness, promising never to fall into such temptations any more.
Somehow, our bodies have a way of taking their toll on us. You gradually start feeling the urge for sex more often, you need to block off that part of you that constantly reminds you this is not right, so you need some alcohol and then you are there again.
At some point when in this battle, your conscience still holds the upper hands, you make your visits to brothels just once in two weeks. But then, it all gradually starts to fall apart. Your flesh and its desires start claiming the better of you. The need for these visits become stronger and the frequency for your nocturnal visits become weekly, and may be twice in a week and then there you go when you have almost lost it.
However, at this point, the conscience would always find a way to prick you to the consciousness of good living, consequently ensuring that this battle never stops.
But when you find that purpose for which you were made, that passion that drives you and then you follow it, you gradually become more focused, more engaged and hardly have the time to notice these distractive calls of the flesh. And for this reason, we need to continuously seek the face of God and ask His divine guidance that we may discover that purpose that would set us on the path of success and extraordinary achievements, the only way one can stay ahead in this battle, cos it would continue to rage as long you and your conscience are still alive. But stay ahead, we also, must do.
Yeahh…, I did it. I wrote the article. Winks* Thank God.
