Release of More Chiboks on The way - Pres. Buhari


President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed optimism on the release of more of the kidnapped Chibok girls, after 21 of them were freed by Boko Haram, following more than two years of captivity.
Speaking at a joint press conference with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Friday in Berlin, President Buhari said negotiations will continue until all the girls secure their freedom.
He said, “On the Chibok girls, we have been able to secure the release of 21 of them, so over 100 more are still in the hands of the terrorists somewhere in the Lake Chad Basin area which include Cameroon, Niger and Nigeria.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has embarked on a more rigorous exploration for oil in the Gongola and other inland basin using the latest seismic data gathering technology.
The NNPC Group Managing Director, Dr Maikanti Baru, in a statement on Saturday, said that the latest technology was similar to the ones used by neighbouring countries to discover oil in their countries..

State governments with solid mineral deposits in their domains can now acquire mining licenses and develop the resources under the new road map for the sector, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Kayode Fayemi, has said.
Mr. Fayemi, who said this in an exclusive interview with PREMIUM TIMES, said the road map also confers special role for the communities hosting the mineral deposits in the country.
“If any state has gold, and the government thinks it will be best harnessed by managing it in partnership with a private technical partner, there is nothing in the law prohibiting the state from establishing its special purpose vehicle for mining operations and approaching the mining cadastral office of the ministry for a license, as long as the land is free and unencumbered,” the minister said.

Acting National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has hailed wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, over fears she publicly raised that her husband’s administration has been hijacked.
In a statement issued Friday in Abuja, Frank said the comments were not meant to discredit the present administration but to sound a note of caution to the present administration.
